"Calling all units, we have missionaries from america, i repeat, missionaries from america"
This week was very busy but it blew by. I had been having a hard time getting motivated to get up in the morning. So I changed my alarm... I will send my new alarm ringtone
on tuesday we had District Council, we got to meet Elder Payne and Elder Nelson (he is a brand new bleu), We had an Oven Pizza competition. We lost, but we also didn't take it seriously. The Newberry's (our senior couple in Liège) won, but they also have money to find the best oven pizza in belgium. then we went back to Namur to sit in the Doctor's office all afternoon, for them to tell us that I am not sick anymore, Duh I know that. You should've seen me two weeks ago.
We almost got arrested on wednesday. We decided to climb over the citadelle to go port the houses on top and on the side of and we knocked like 10 door got the common, really nice like 35 y/o dad who has no interest but is really proud of you. 5 cranky catholic women. and 4 no answers or people to open the door just for the pleasure of slamming it. As we were walking from door to door, a blacked out little Namur Police car and 3 absolutely jacked police officers jump out and tell us to come over. they asked for ID and then from there they just told us they were responding to a call about "2 mysterious men" going door to door. they put our names into the system and then let us go. we then proceeded to port our entire way home.
We got to have pasta with Patrick the DMP (ward mission leader) from charleroi, he is a super super nice dude. he works in Namur so we get to go to lunch with him and discuss our missionary efforts and what we are trying and counsel with him to see what he thinks of our Ideas. He likes most of our ideas because for the most part we don't stay in Centre Ville and street contact and we go out into the boonies of our sector to find people and families to teach.
After Lunch we went out to this beautiful little village up in the hills called Lustin. we tried to find some less actives due to the shortage of time. We found one of our less actives still lives there and the other the address was wrong and they live in Godinne village and not Lustin Village.
It was really pretty and the people were really nice, really not interested, but really nice. there were a lot of farms and a lot of brebis (sheep) with spray painted butts.
We had our normal Mangezvous with the Badoux's but we missed our bus home/the bus didn't come. So i suggested to run down the side of the mountain and to try to beat the bus at the bottom on the other 433 route so we can get home. So we ran as fast as we could down the side of this mountain to find that we missed that bus and then we just went to the train station and made it on time. I miss having a car, as fun as that was, public transportation is very unreliable and it is super super unreliable out in the middle of nowhere.
We also had Exchanges this week with the Zone Leaders and so we went up to Bruxelles.
I was with Elder Fund. He is an awesome guy, He is from ____ and the best thing about him is that he knows how to have fun while being productive. Brussels is really cool area because it is just a melting pot of cultures. We went porting in this one neighborhood north east of brussels and we literally ran into people who spoke French, Dutch, English, German, Albanian, sometimes all of the first three. We had one man open his door to a certain point, and then as he realized who we were he just closed the door and said "nay nay nay nay nay" just slowly and quietly and closed the door softly as if he didn't want to remember that he opened it in the first place. We also saw a ring door bell which got us really excited because the NATO headquarters is close and there are a lot of americans that work in brussels for NATO, we were really hoping to stumble across an american family. We did not sadly. We made homemade frites that night and they were good but nothing compares to Chez Gaby's.
I love being a missionary and being able to share the gospel with all the people of Namur and in our sector, Each one deserves the chance to hear the Good news of the Gospel. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and redeemer. I know that he suffered and died for us so that we could live again, that we would be able to return to our Father. I know that on that day that I return to our Father in Heaven and he asks "Do you love me?" I will answer without a doubt "yea lord, thou knowest that I love thee"
till the next time,
ab
