The Secret Combination of the Soup of Bouffon
I'll be for real with you, this week was some pretty mundane business. pas beaucoup des nouvelles (not a whole lot of news). this week went kinda like this, go out grind out on some finding less active work. we did find a forest (that was really exciting) then it would start to torrential downpour for 30 minute intervals for about 3 hours. then it would cool down and I would sit down on the balcony, write in my journal, crack open a cold one (non alcoholic beer) and then we would go to bed. it was super super fun just very repetitive...
For the first time in a long time our sunday has been the noteworthy day. we run our branch here in Amiens. Elder Fund conducted and gave a talk, I blessed the sacrament, gave a talk and gave the opening prayer. probably the most missionaries serving in a branch experience ever.
and then the St. Quentin sœurs tricked us into coming and helping them at a service project serving soup. So like I thought "ahh soup kitchen, it should be fun, No Big Deal." so Sunday Night we take the train to st. quentin. we meet them at this park and this is the bouffon celebration of soup.
it was this like rave thing throughout St. Quentin. look it up on Wikipedia or something because seriously... we really had no Idea what was going on. no one would tell me what the soup meant. but anyways we show up at the park and there is a huge like renaissance fair and stage with a bunch of robed men with funky hats. We see the Sœurs behind this fence next to a huge huge pot of soup. so we go over there get briefed on what we are doing. essentially it is like the 7/11 bring your own cup day. except with vegetable soup.

before we started serving the soup the Elders of the Soup cult. inducted new members into the soup cult they give you like this wooden soup ladle. then we went wild, and started serving the soup to literally the entire city of St. Quentin.
It was really fun. after "the secret brotherhood of the soup of bouffon" (actual name, not the soup cult), a live band came up and gave us their take on 4 Imagine dragons songs and Lucky by Daft Punk and then michael jackson.
I was dancing singing and serving soup. it was super super fun and I got to be the old me again so I was living my best life. meeting french people hanging out with members and missionaries and lit music, doing service. it was very very very fun and the most fun I have had on my mission so far. which I realize is a weekly thing for me during this transfer. It has been super super fun!
well that is about it.
